Sony Alpha, is a digital SLR camera system introduced on June 5, 2006. It utilizes and expands upon Konica Minolta camera technologies, including the Minolta AF SLR lens mount, whose assets were acquired by Sony after the end of Minolta’s camera operations in early 2006. Since then the Sony Corporation has established itself as a global leader in electronics with the parent Sony Group comprising of five sectors including games, motion pictures and music, electronics, financial services and other businesses.

The 10 megapixel digital SLR was well received and won many awards. In October 2007, Sony released the 12 megapixel Sony Alpha DSLR A700 to compete with Nikon`s D300 & Canon`s EOS 40D. Recent Sony Alpha digital slr cameras are described below.
