Basic and Concept of Digital SLR Camera

DSLR allows a photographer to view the object throught camera exactly like what he saw. DSLR camera is different than point and shoot camera also known as pocket camera or compact camera.
Why Single Lens? Because this camera uses a system of single track line of the lens to pass the light beam into two places, the Focal Plane and Viewfinder. That’s why what a photographer’s saw is exactly same like what his eyes saw. Unlike the pocket camera, it uses double lens reflect, one to passing the light beam to focal plane while the other to viewfinder. This resulting image could be differ than what he saw.

SLR camera use pentaprism mirror placed over the optical path through the lens onto the camera sensor. When the light coming inside the lens, it reflected by mirror, then reflected twice by the pentaprism, rectifying it for the photographer’s eye. During exposure, the mirror assembly swings upward, the aperture narrows and a shutter opens, allowing the lens to project light onto the image sensor. Actually the process is more complex than what you read, and it happens automatically so you we dont need to bother about the confusing process. What you have to do is only focusing to the object.

Thats alot of list you should consider before decide to choose one, so where are the misconceptions ?

Camera manufacturers usually including the products with lens kit, many beginner photographers turn from compact camera user on to dslr user without enough knowledge and unexperienced to choose DSLR camera, especially on the lens.

The key of photography is the lens, many newbie think the lens kit provided by manufacture is good enough to them. Moreover, because comparing with pocket camera or prosumer camera wich usually the price is more cheaper than DSLR. Camera manufacture usually including their lens kit with maksimum APERTURE f/3.5, i never see box set kit with lens apperture bigger than f/3.5.

apertureFor the first time i choose DSLR camera, i was thought the camera with interchangeable lens for a various zoom/focal length purpose (wide, telephoto, macro photography, etc..) is enough to me. But i was wrong, DSLR camera is a determination on the photographs, but the quality and the impression of a professional image obtained from the type of lens attached. The true power of DSLR camera are supported by fast lenses, with marked at least maksimum aperture f/2.8. The lower the number of aperture size, the bigger diaphragm blade open, and the bigger the aperture size of the lens usually there will be more expensive. Its worth if you want high quality photograph. Choose wisely your lens and you’ll get clear and crisp images.

Next thing is sensor size, they are two type camera, you decide to buy DSLR Camera with CCD or CMOS ? one of them divided to FullFrame, APS-H, APS-C and Four-Thirds class sensor. each them has different purpose, for more infomation please read the related article!
This sensor selection determines which type of camera would you buy, and of course will depend on the selection of the right lens for your camera.
Tips : dont bother of the CCD or CMOS type, just choose your best camera with your budget and purposes. Read the article about CMOS and CCD type and you’ll understand what you needs.

And about the Image Stabilizer, do you need the IS feature in the body (Pentax) or or in the lens (Nikon, Canon)? each of them has pros and cons. Again, read the related articles about IS feature here.

There are still more things you must consider before decide to buy digital SLR camera such as spot metering options, bracketing options. LCD screen, etc… identify the advantages and limitations of the existing camera, and take account into other factors (such as after-sales, convenience and availability of the lens options and accessories), then finding the best DSLR wouldn’t be difficult
